Release History, Corrections and Additions
Version 2.1b - 11/09/91
- With the advent of Wildcat! 3.01 comes a change to the
prompt that asks if you want to list new mail. This
involved a change to the CATCALLS.WC3 file, as well as
changing the prompt IN the script from "N" to "C" (for
Continue).
- Multiple file uploads would cause CatCalls to hang after
the first upload. This (hopefully) has been corrected.
Version 2.1a - 10/18/91
- An immediate problem reported with version 2.1 caused
several users EXTENSIVE delays when reading the
CATCALLS.WC3 file from disk. This delay caused Wildcat!
to miss the ANSI detection and (somehow) append the
characters "[2;1R" to the beginning of the login name.
The method of reading the prompt file has been changed
and the delay reduced substantially.
- Changed a couple of prompts in the .WC3 file to handle
the above problem, as well as the "Nothing to download"
message in TomCat 3.01.
Version 2.1 - 10/11/91
- A new procesing option has been added to the Extended
BBS Definition screen. If set to "Y", "Use Netmail
processing" will cause CatCalls to download new mail
first, upload replies, then drop carrier before the
upload import is complete.
- In an attempt to "keep up" with the changes occurring
with TomCat 3.xx, changed the prompt "[G]oodbye when
done?" in CATCALLS.WC3 to eliminate the current "hang"
condition.
- Added configuration files CATCALLS.WC2 and CATCALLS.WC3
to allow for Sysops changes to their system's prompts
(WCTEXT.DAT).
Version 2.0c - 8/30/91
- Corrected Phone Number verification for Wildcat 3.xx
boards.
- Corrected entry to and return from Doors Menu for
Wildcat 3.xx boards. This affects both TomCat and
Time Door Processing.
Version 2.0b - 8/22/91
- Now will send two "Escape" characters if the word
"Escape" (upper or lower) is sent by the BBS. This
should help with FIDO front end programs.
- Make 2.0a features available to all.
Version 2.0a - 7/26/91 (Release to Beta Team ONLY)
- Upload files changed to function consistently with
Wildcat! 3.0.
- Upload File Area increased to 3 characters for Wildcat!
3.0 BBS's.
- If no Upload File area is defined and Wildcat! asks for
one, CatCalls will output either "?" (for Wildcat! 2.xx)
or "L" (for Wildcat! 3.xx) to show available file areas.
- Script didn't recognize WC! 3.0's "Would you like to
view the bulletin menu?" question.
Version 2.0 - 7/20/91
- Complete redesign of the User Interface.
- Added Context sensitive help by pressing F1 to all
data screens.
- Added prompts to the extended directory to move from
message menu to file menu, to say "goodbye", and to
join a conference (for Wildcat 3.0).
- The Timed execution window will now display the current
time if you select to run the agenda later.
- Added "Run Silent, Run Deep" option for completely silent
operation.
- An exit option has been added to allow a direct exit to DOS
when "Terminate CatCalls" is selected.
- A second method of dialing has been added (sequential dialing)
that will cycle through all selected BBS's in the event one
or more numbers are busy.
- The TELIX.FON default dialing directory will be reloaded when
CatCalls terminates.
- CatCalls will now wait for "NO CARRIER" from the modem before
dialing the next number.
- Added support for Wildcat! and TomCat 3.0.
- Added NONE.SLC to the archive to help users "quiet down" Telix.
- Minor corrections of reported problems.
- Reorganized the documentation.
Version 1.5b - 6/1/91
- Certainly the International Formats option would allow
phone numbers and dates to be entered on the User
configuration screen, but when running an agenda
CatCalls would "hang" at those verifications as it did
not recognize the format of the "prompts" from the BBS.
This has been corrected.
Version 1.5a - 5/25/91
- Due to my oversight, access to the Time Door would not
function if the Time Door was un-registered, or the
Door had been configured to disallow logging off from
within the door.
Version 1.5 - 5/24/91
- A problem existed when defining files to upload where
CatCalls would notify the user that the file did not
exist when, in fact, it did. This was cause by the
Telix Upload Directory being defined without a trailing
"\". CatCalls will now "append" the "\" character if
it is not present.
- Added support for Bill Bolden's Time Bank. Users only
need to specify the "door number" of the Time Bank
on the Extended Directory Maintenance screen, and will
be prompted during agenda maintenance, the amount to
deposit and/or withdraw.
- Added Call Logging capabilities allowing a review of
all agenda processing. This feature is optional and
is set in the User Configuration Options.
- Redesigned the Extended Directory Maintenance Screen.
- Added the ability to "Esc" from Timed Execution Facility
screen in case "F4" (to run Agenda) was selected in
error.
- Added "context sensitive" help functions to the User
configuration screen. <F1> in any field will activate.
- Added full validation for all file paths and file names
entered on the user configuration screen.
- Main Menu display will now clear the screen with a "moving"
time display box after 3 minutes of inactivity.
- You may now specify a dialing directory (other than
TELIX.FON) as the directory that CatCalls will use during
its operation.
- Timed execution facility will now clear the screen every
30 seconds, moving the display location to help prevent
screen "burn-in". The current time has been added to
this display.
- CatCalls will now support for International Phone formats
(13 character free format).
- CatCalls will now log off a call faster by sending a
space character immediately after telling Wildcat!
and/or TomCat "G"oodbye.
Version 1.1 - 5/3/91
- Any Extended Entries "past" the 22nd entry in the Telix
dialing directory would become corrupt on CATCALLS.FON.
- When defining the extended directory entries, entering
the "space bar" would give the illusion that the field
entered was actually "blanked out". The illusion has
been made a reality.
- When using Wildcat's internal Zmodem for file uploads and
the file being uploaded already exists, CatCalls would
loop continuously trying to resend the same file.
- On BBS's that are set up that force the caller to view
the bulletin Menu, CatCalls would "hang" at the bulletin
menu. (Would you believe NONE of the BBS's tested during
Beta test "forced" the bulletin menu?)
- In certain situations with high speed modems and PC's,
CatCalls would not detect the modem's carrier signal
in time, causing the script to terminate upon the initial
connection. A one second pause upon connection has
corrected this.
- Somtimes when initially logging on to a BBS, the BBS would
"miss" some of the characters of the logon name or password.
This would cause a problem since the script wouldn't try to
send the name or password a second time. CatCalls will now
send the name and password until they are accepted from the
BBS.
- Access to TomCat from the doors menu has been corrected.
- Made a few minor revisions and additions to the documentation.
- Added logic to implement CATCALLS.KEY file for registered
users.
Version 1.0 - 4/24/91
